Diy Statement Necklaces

As promised from yesterdays post “DIY is ON”, today I’m showing you some of my latest hand made necklaces.

You saw this one.

And it is my FAVOURITE! 😀

It took a lot of time, but it doesn’t matter. It was inspired by Africa. As was the next one.

Wish List Hair Tie Bracelet

I’ve been to Miracle Gardens in Dubai and they’ve done this great thing where they added a place for butterflies (post on that a bit later – it is amazing)! Omg!!! *.* So perfect!
I have so many selfies, it’s not healthy! X)

But, I noticed my hair ties look tacky on my arm. I always have them because I can’t stand having my hair down for too long, but it’s not so nice to see them especially if you’re dressed up a little bit.

And then I saw this! *.*

How classy does that look?! 😀

Original idea came from Maria Shireen and it was actually designed by her husband as a present for her! How thoughtful! And he solved problems of million women around the world at the same time! 😀
Prices go from 45-85$.

I also found an Etsy seller called The Bangle Bear and you can find a set of 3 bracelets for 30$! Great price! And you can even find stainless steel ones!
Here is what they look like:

I’m going to get one! 😀

DIY Lip Scrub

It is very important to take care of your lips, especially in the winter time. We all know how dry they can get. And if you like to wear matte lipsticks like I do, you know how drying that can be.
So if you don’t want those nasty chapped lips with the lipstick going into the cracks (eeew!), you have to exfoliate.
There is a very easy, basic DIY lip scrub that for sure everyone has ingredients for in the kitchen!

What you need:

  • Sugar
  • Olive or almond oil (I used both)

Just take sugar and olive oil and mix it together! That’s it! Hhh

It’s best to put it in your beauty routine so you don’t forget. For example, I usually do it in the evening after brushing my teeth. It takes seconds! Since I wear a lot of matte lipsticks, I do it at least once a week, but you’ll see from your lips how often you need to do it.
Just don’t forget to put lip balm afterwards!
It also makes a very cute last minute gift! Who doesn’t like hand made with love and natural products?! Just put it in a nice box, label it and voila!

Scrap Fabric pt. 3

I hope you remember when I wrote about my wish list Croatian Startas, because today I’m writing about another Cro product – Jolie Petite!

They make little girls and boys applique T/shirts, dresses, scarfs and other clothing, and each item is hand made which is rare today.

If the lady on the pictures is familiar to you it is because it is a famous fashion model Ljupka Gojić (maybe you also remember her from the 90s Pantene Pro-V commercials, she was their model).

Her mum started the company and it grew to be a family business.

The reason I’m writing about this is because it is also a great scrap fabric project – appliques!

Jolie Petite isn’t anything new on the market and crafters have been doing applique for a long time, but hey… They made a brand out of it!

You just need to figure out what you want to do.

Put it on your T-shirts, dresses, scarfs… Onesies are really adorable! Spice up your totes and bags, pillow cases or put it on a canvas for a wall decor.

All of these are also great gifts! I know I would be happy if someone gave me something like this! 🙂

Spring is here and summer is close. Why not make this bag ? Click on the pic for the tut.

For the end here is a great tutorial from Sew Like My Mom on applique (link on pic).

What do you think?

Would you buy Petite Jolie or make one yourself?

And in case you missed my first two parts of Scrap Fabric What To Do, here they are Part 1 and Part 2.

Happy Sunday! 🙂

Scrap Fabric pt. 2

Back to the scraps.

A good way to use your scraps is to make pincushions!

There are so many adorable inspirations out there that I wanna make all just so I can look at them! *love*

You can make classic square ones, insert some colourful panels in, make a circle, pumpkin, pear, a mouse…! Just about anything! Put them in an embroidery hoop, a cup or on top of a jar and keep buttons or something else in it!

Don’t forget to stuff  it with scraps of course! Cut it up into smaller pieces and fill it in.

I also found this pic of a pincushion for the machine and had to immediately make one! It is very handy to have it right by.

If you don’t want it on your machine make one long one and keep it around.Image

And here is a collage of mobile sleeves about which my first post was about.

The big picture of the green one was my inspiration, but I also really like the little bear! ^^ And the idea of using an old tie for it.

How do you use your scrap fabric?

Scrap Fabric What To Do? pt. 1

When you’re sewing you always have left over scrap fabric.
And I’m such a hamster! I don’t want to throw away anyting! So the scraps just keep on growing and growing… What do to with it?

I decided to start doing little projects where I use scrap fabric only.

The first thing I chose to do was this mobile cozy.

What I like about it is that I can put away the head phones so the wires don’t get tangled (don’t you just hate when that happens?) and I always know where they are.

This is only a prototype so to say. Next one will ne much nicer.

I used thin felt and elastic. You only need to measure your mobile so you know the size and sew the sides.
Add some decorations from scraps or buttons if you’d like or just leave it as it is. The whole thing is done in 5 min!

Now go ahead, make your own and share! 🙂
