I AmStardam

My recent travels took me to Amsterdam and I must say I loved it!
I really like cities like Amsterdam or Copenhagen where you live next to the river.

Ok, all major cities are situated next to a river, that’s history. But not all of them are charming as these two. No high buildings or skyscrapers. Just cute little houses. Looks more peaceful and sync with nature.

Since I only hadΒ 24 h I took a boat ride in the canals and a walk around the city centre.
The boat ride takes an hour and it is a nice way too see the city and learn something new.

These are some pics taken from the boat. It is a bit hard to take nice pics when the boat is moving all the time.

We were lucky with the weather. It was sunny and warm and perfect to wear just a sweater, no jacket.

I really love the architecture! I guess it’s a nice change from all the glass skyscrapers when you’re living in Dubai. X)

Of course, in the centre, you can smell the weed on the streets. It is not uncommon since it is legal along side with prostitution.

Here are some pics of the city. You can take pictures of the ladies in the Red District though.

What I also love is that they are a biking city! Biking culture is big! Everybody rides a bike, they have their own paths on the streets… Healthy life stlyes! Gotta love it! πŸ˜€

As you can see from pictures there are loads of little canals and about 1000 bridges. So there are plenty of places to walk around, explore and get lost in!

So go ahead and do it! πŸ˜‰

Ps. And oh yeah! Rub a boob for good luck! Hhhh

Relaxing at Bastakiya

I want to show you a beautiful old part of Dubai called Bastakiya. If you read my OOTD Boho Chic, you remember I mentioned it. If you missed it, seeΒ it here. πŸ˜‰

It is all renovated to look like it used to and it is a tourist attraction. There are museums, nice restaurants and loads of local artists have their shops there. You can browse, watch them work, talk to them and buy a unique piece of art.

Enjoy the pics! =)
(There is also a little DIY project hidden. See if you can find it! :))

Out on the streets…

I really like the sculptures which throw different shadows. Which one is your favourite?

I would also recommend a restaurant called Arabian Tea House!Β I really like how it has flowers all around, and the blue of the benches and the white really gives it a nice feel. So beautiful! ^^

I have loads more pictures, but omg it would be crazy to upload them all!

It is a really cool place to visit and relax, have a bite to eat and a drink. Everything is nicely decorated and I love the bright colours!

Have you ever been there? What did you think?

I’m off to bed and then to Jakarta!

A Day in Zurich

Hi everyone!
I’m writing to you from my nice and comfty hotel bed. I am sooo tired, but thought I’d just share some pics from today.

Landed in the afternoon and just went out for a walk and dinner. Thought it was gonna be colder, but it was just fresh let’s say.

It was a beautiful day! People were out and about, tourists taking tours (gotta do that next time!), drinking coffee in cafes next to the river… You can feel spring coming! ^^

The main shopping street Bahnhof Straße is not that much interesting, but if you go to the little streets on the side you’ll see they have much more charm and cute little shops.

And for the last picture, let’s not forget about the foodies! πŸ˜‰ We found this little place, which was actually empty, but we were so hungry we didn’t care. Inside was an old grandpa that was serving us. We spoke to him in English, he answered back in German. All the time! So cute! Explaining the whole menu in German like we understand! XD But it didn’t matter! We understood each other perfectly! And we made the right choice! Home made food and wine! What more can you ask for?!

Anyone been to Zurich? How did you like it? Next time when it’s warmer, I want to rent a bike and do a boat tour! πŸ˜€

Follow if you like! πŸ˜‰
And check out my Instagram for an extra picture from Zurich, a hidden little gem and to see rest of my trevels!

Sleepless in Seattle

Hi everyone! How are you?

It’s pretty early where I am right now and I can’t sleep so I thought I’d do something new! I will show you a little bit ofΒ my travels and thing you can do in the cities I’ve visited in only 24 hours! =D

First city, lovely Seattle!

I was pretty lucky with the weather as it wasn’t raining when I was there. There wasn’t any sun, but it wasn’t raining either. So that’s good. πŸ™‚

I didn’t get an impression Seattle was that big of a city and that’s what I love about it. Everything I’ve done was walking distance. At least for my touristic needs.

1. Pike Place Market

We started off the day by visiting the Pike Place Market. Great place for fresh food shopping, but also local DIY-ers. You can find beautiful fresh flowers, fruits, veggies and seafood. You have gotta try the seafood when you’re there! Go down to the peer and try any of the local restaurants for some fresh seafood. Yum!

And oh, any coffee lovers out there? In case you didn’t know, the first Starbucks is there! However, the line is always long. I would recommend getting your coffee a little bit up. There is a Starbucks that still uses the old logo. Then just go down to the first one and take your picture. Your friends will never know! πŸ˜‰

2. Gum Wall

You will come to a little fish stand and in front of it will be a golden pig. Why? I don’t know. But it’s cool. The whole city is actually full with street art and there is always something quirky to see and discover.
Next to the pig are stairs that lead to the Gum Wall. It is how it sounds. It started off in the 90s and you can leave your mark today. Just stick a chewing gum on the wall. I must say, it smells nice, but is is also kind of disgusting at the same time! After all, those are all chewing gums stuck on a wall. Do not touch! hhh

20150901_13190620150901_131640 Β IMG_20150901_214531

Cool thing to see!

3. Guided Tours

If you are a bit of a geek like me, you will enjoy some tours. They are around 20-30 dollars. Not too much. I took the Underground tour and the Duck tour.

The Underground Tour takes you (you guessed it) underground! Yaay! It is very interesting as the city has a story to tell. If you follow me on instagram then you must have seen this pic.

IMG_20150901_215902

Those are skylight around the city. There is a whole secret undergound world of Seattle I bet you didn’t even know you were walking on! Check it out!

4. Space Needle

Next on the list to cross off – the Space Needle! A must see. It was a half an hour walk from the Pioneer Square where The Underground Tour was. Take a walk! You’ll see nice architecture and street art on the way!

20150901_161512

However, we didn’t have the time to go up as we took the Duck tour that is across the road. It was awesome! Our guide, Captain Bjorn was the funniest person ever putting on different music while he was driving us around, wearing silly hats, animating us all the time while talking about the city at the same time. If you have kids, they will love this! You also go into Lake Union as it is an amphibious vehicle.
Any Heath Ledger fans out there? Did you know the movie 10 Things I Hate About You was filmed in Seattle? I love that movie! ❀ You can see where the paintball scene was filmed from the lake.

And that was pretty much my day. On the way back we stopped at the shopping area and went back to the hotel to rest our tired legs.

OOTD wise, I like keeping it simple on my travels. No heels, rarely any skirt or dresses.
I wore this really comfy, warm, over sized red H&M sweater, Primark darkΒ blue skinny jeans, black pashmina, black New Yorker leather jacket and black H&M fringe bag.

20150901_122341

I hope this wasn’t too long and that you found it helpful and interesting. I tried to keep it simple and to the point.
There are many more things I want to do next time I’m there like the EMP museum.

Have you been to Seattle? What did you do?
If you are a local reading this, what else would you recommend to a tourist?

And oh, please riddle me this! How come it is illegal to smoke cigarettes outside, but you can smoke weed? *confused* :S
